Construct the chart and describe what you can observe. 5 marks Answer: The graphical chart that should be used when comparing data from different categories is a histogram. The reason for this is because histograms are used to show the distributions. As you can see below, you can see the distributions between Jan-Dec 2018, and Jan-Dec 2019. Construct the chart and describe what you can observe about the proportion. 5 Marks The graphical chart that should be used in describing the proportion of one categorical variable is a circle graph. The reason this graph would be well used is that it can be used to easily show the results of an investigation in a proportional manner, as well as being able to visualise information and data. As you can see below, you are able to compare for example the number of sexual assaults in comparison to attempted murder. As for the Measures of Variability, it can be seen that the middle half of the data has a spread of 62 incidents. After constructing a scatter diagram, the conclusion that was drawn was that there is no linear relation. This report should include: * What question you had in mind Description of your data set Statistical results obtained in Excel. (descriptive statistics, tables or figures supporting your conclusions) * Conclusion (Whether or not you were successful in answering your research question) Answer: The dataset presented can help determine whether or not there is a relationship between the number of incidents to the offence type. The data that was used throughout this report is from the NSW Recorded Crime Statistics 2019. The data presented is the number of incidents in relation to their offence type. By using this data set | was able to draw statistical results from the descriptive statistics, as well as histograms, a circle graph and scatter diagram to determine whether or not there is a relationship between the number of incidents to the offence type. From the histogram of the number of incidents, it was shown that it was a typical bimodal histogram, which meant that we were dealing with sampling 2 or more different populations. This meant that because there is a number of different populations, there would other factors that contributed to the way this question should be answered. With this, | was able to find out the Measures of Central Tendency, which showed that the distribution was skewed-left. Lastly, the last determining statistical result obtained was from constructing a scatter diagram, which drew the conclusion that there was no linear relation amongst the points.
