I am trying to solve this problem that has my entire class dumbfounded.
A multiplattered hard disk is divided into 1100 sectors and 40,000 cylinders. There are six platter surfaces. Each block holds 512 bytes. The disk is rotating at 4800 rpm and has an average seek time of 12 msec.What is the disk transfer rate in bytes per second?
In our weekly reading there is a formula but it doesn't exactly solve the problem and the formula isn't just black and white as most formulas are. I know the rotation speed is .012 seconds, but I have not been successful as to actually solving the problem correctly.
