The aim of this task is to write a memo to the CEO recommending the need for change. As an OD practitioner, you are required to provide recommendations to implement the change and development.
1) identify the problems-the need for change (both the micro e.g. individual/team and macro e.g. organisational/environmental)
In the micro aspectofBA's point of view, BA has shown poor communicationwith political group. This led to misunderstandfor intended to change of organization could impact onthe families of employees.The change of replacing a new e-checkinginsystem to force the employees to acceptit without prior notice.BA has made a one-sided decision, henceresulted lack of trust between the employees and the management.In the shoes of employee, the new system brought the wrong ideato thestaff memberswhere they feltthe BA management could manipulate their working patterns.This gave a rise to employee job dissatisfaction due to employees thinktheyneed to work split shifts and workextrahours.
On the other hand of macro aspect,when putting thenewsystem in place withouta noticeit would seems disrespectful to employees,this willbe consideredasa negative organizational culture.Also, the timing of introducing new system in place, it was made during the peak season where the employees have the busiest time in the airport.
In this memorandum will be focus on the rootcauseissueoccurredwhich is poor communication/leadershipfrom the top management of BA to employees.
2) discuss the cause/s of the problems (both the micro and macro), also, look at the company culture.
To determine the root cause of poor communication, this section will be applying system thinking approach to identify more accurately of issueoccurred.The employees were notknown andparticipated in the decision-making processtoplace anew system - Swipe cardin the organization. Employeesof BA frequently feellack of job security if the top manager of BA continuouslytoprovide insufficient training forthe team leaderswhich lead to poor leadership.Team leaders in BA might lack of leadership skills in order to train staff members whichcause them unwilling totrytovoicetheir concerns.Indeed, poor communication rootedin people's/ organizationalbeliefs about we are good in communicating hencewe would not practiceit in the workplace.
