Vis and his wife Wanda have moved into their new home in the town of West View, New Jersey. Unbeknownst to them, the FBI suspects the couple may be plotting a series of digital robberies throughout the New Jersey/New York area. FBI agent Darcy Lewis has been brainstorming the best ways to conduct surveillance and has come up with some ideas. First, she contacts Randall Park, CEO of a private drone surveillance company called Security Works and Omniscient Regional Detection (SWORD for short). SWORD often flies recreational drones in the town of West View, and Darcy calls . Randall to see if any of his drones may have captured footage that would implicate Vis or Wanda. Although Randall is initially apprehensive about identifying such footage, Darcy reminds him that the contract between SWORD and the FBI provides that SWORD shall furnish footage necessary for law enforcement purposes. Randall sends a clip of the drone footage to Darcy, which from a particular angle 1000 feet away captures the back of Vis and Wandas home. In the footage you can see a back porch, a gazebo about 40 yards away from the porch, and a white picket fence encircling the entire property. If you zoom into the image, it shows Wandas arm and an iPad visible from an opening in the lattice of the gazebo. Unfortunately, the image is too blurry to see what is on screen. Using a sophisticated enhancement software suite developed by SWORD for law enforcements exclusive use, Darcy is able to enhance the footage and see that the screen shows the citys digital wallet and crypto key. The software suite is not yet on the consumer market, although similar products exist for an annual license fee of $900.00. Darcy decides she is going to arrest Wanda, but upon visiting her home she is unable to find the suspect. Darcy visits a friend at Verizon, Agatha Harkness, and requests through subpoena all records Verizon has about the location of Wandas cell phone over the past week, as well as any text messages sent or received from Wandas Verizon account of the last year. Agatha turns the records over to Darcy without hesitation, and Darcy tracks Wanda down to an abandoned shed in the woods where she promptly arrests Wanda and takes her downtown for interrogation. During the interrogation, Darcy demands that Wanda give her the passcode so she may search the tablet. Wanda protests and claims she wants to invoke her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Darcy, in a burst of frustration, grabs Wanda by the ears and forces her face in front of the tablet where the FaceID system unlocks the tablet. Darcy reviews the contents of the tablet and identifies a file outlining Wandas plan to steal digital assets from various cities.
