This part requires that we look at how polarizers are used to filter and attenuate light. A beam of unpolarized light is passed through two polarizers and then projected onto a light detector that measures illuminance (in units of lux). You adjust the axis of the first polarizer so that it is vertical, rotate the axis of the second polarizer relative to the first polarizer, and measure the signal from the detector.

You record this illumination and the angle (in ) between the axes of the polarizers ( as shown in table 1)

A photograph of the setup is shown in Figure 4 below.
