Hello, this is a IDS 105 Question. If you can please ONLY help answer and respond to Peer Classmate Post B) located at the very bottom. Use #3 and #4 to help answer Peer Classmate Post B). Thank you!

Modern society is diversified and globalized, so understanding the benefits of diversity is important. In this discussion, you will explore how embracing diversity benefits collaboration and communication.

Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful towards your peers and instructor in your initial and response discussion posts.

Create one initial post and respond to at least two of your classmates.

For your initial post, address the following:

  1. What are some ways that your knowledge of cultural fluency can benefit your self-awareness?
  2. In what kinds of situations could you use your knowledge of cultural fluency and self-awareness?

a. For example, different cultures have different concepts of time and time management. How could cultural fluency and self-awareness help you navigate situations where you and your friend, colleague, or instructor view time or time management differently?

For your response posts, address the following:

3. After reading your peer's posts, what are additional ways that an understanding of cultural fluency can benefit self-awareness in the situation that your peer identified?

4. After reading the situations your peer shared, how would you respond in a similar situation? Or, share an example in the media that describes a similar situation where knowledge of cultural fluency was helpful or would have been helpful.

Peer Classmate Posts:

B) Cultural fluency is having a good understanding of different cultures. Self-awareness is having a good understanding of your own thoughts, identity, feelings, etc. I think that when you're culturally fluent, you see different perspectives, viewpoints, and ways of thinking. Once, cultural fluency is obtained, you can become more empathetic towards others, understand cultural differences, communicate better with others, and grow relations. Understanding other cultures can grow your own emotional intelligence. You may see the world with fresh eyes, from the perspective of others. This will allow you to be more aware of your own emotions, feelings, thoughts, and how your cultural background plays a role in everything. Once you look within yourself to see your own biases and such, you can grow as a person.

My knowledge of cultural fluency and self-awareness can be used in a variety of settings. For example, working in a multicultural team, going on vacation to a different country, etc. I can effectively use my knowledge to navigate differing views of time and time management. By understanding someone's cultural background, I can respect their concept of time. If the differing views are causing conflict, I can speak openly with them and also hear their side. After we both listen to each other, we can effectively reach a compromise and be flexible with one another.
