Relationship Management is a component of emotional intelligence that is vital to any business. It is how we create and maintain our relationships with others, communicate clearly, manage conflicts, and conaect to build our relationships and grow a solid foundation for results. In conflict, it is important to be able to have strong and effective relationships with your coworkers, employees, and/or others in order to actively listen, empathize with others, connect, and negotiate to resolve conflict. The stronger the relationship the more successful the outcome tends to be and people are more apt to work hard to resolve. When you are fostering a bealthy work environment and creating constructive steps in resolving or minimizing escalating conflicts, you are also applying your self-awareness and emotional intelligence to relationship to manage the situation better. You are leading for a positive change. I tend to be more of an empathetic person that has always been put in positions, whether it is in school, work, or life, to lead and solve confliet and situations naturally. I find that conflict, although unconfortable and stressful for most, is quite normal in my every day career and life, that I ve leamed to manage daily. At work I am a strong leader that gets the job done, driven, supportive, and a great listener. I help our teams grow and learn by leading while resolving issues aand creating trust among our departments. At home, however, I apy a little harder, less patient, have higher expectations, and less empathy with my daughter. I definitely need to work harder on this part of my life. I've always been career focused and that switch from professional to Mommy doesn't always change as easy for me. It's very stressful at home being a single widowed mom so I think when you're with those you love the most, you tend to let your emotions override you more than you should, at least I do. I need to work harder at being better here and have to remind myself she's nine and not an adult. Today, at work, I had to present four PowerPoints for our Engineers, not my department's role but I want to support cross-functional teams to improve their process and development. It not only bualds the relationship and trust but it also helps end users, like my department and others to be able to do their jobs with less conflicts later. By reeducating them, providing knowledge and training, as well as giving them some ownership to the process, we were able to improve an ongoing conflict that's been happening for years. Every time there has been turnover of Engineers, there is loss of knowledge and training. Their leaders have not been providing it efficiently which affects us down the line. With my assistance, I was able to get their buy-in to take ownership going forvard, if I presented and did the initial work for them. It was really a win-win situation. They will be able to develop their training documents from the information provided and this will close any gaps that caused risk and issues to other departments later. By planning, negotiating, and looking at the big picture, many good things became a success from this for the departments and the business due to the resolution we came up with as a team What are some example you have that show your emotional intelligence? What have you done to go above and beyond to improve a work or home situation? What do you do to increase your emotional intelligence and improve your foundation Step by Step Solution
