Here are the questions I want you to discuss. There are two parts (and one optional part): 1. What do you think of diversity in the film industry, both on screen and behind the camera (directors, producers, cinematographers, etc.)? If you feel diversity is lacking, how can it be achieved? Even though the readings and videos focus on race and/or gender, you can expand "diversity" to include any group or representation that you feel is lacking (for example, gender identification, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.). I know...this could be a dissertation, but you can provide your initial thoughts on the matter. 2. Based on the Box Office Mojo link: Look at the movie chart from the past week. These are the highest earning films in terms of domestic (U.S. and Canada) box office. In general, what do you think of the current choices for audience members? Is there something for various members of the viewing audience? For you and your friends/family? [As a media critic this term, if you're not familiar with the films on the chart, you can take the time to watch a trailer or read a synopsis] 3. Optional: As a public service to all of us, is there any film you've seen recently that you can recommend to other PCC students (please avoid spoilers)? This could have been viewed in a theater, via a streaming service, Blu-ray Disc, etc.
