Or "you make a good point....." Student #1: To be honest, I could see how this could look like morally wrong behavior, but I feel like it's just gamesmanship. I think it would look different if only one team knew these tactics, but since most teams know when to call time outs accordingly or foul players at certain times, I don't think it's ethically or morally wrong. I think in the world of sports, it's just known that it's how you play to win. Student #2: "Icing" is appropriate when it is done in an appropriate manner. There are some circumstances that you would consider a play "dirty", I do no think those situations it is appropriate. As long as you are not out there deliberately trying to hurt someone, it is just a strategy. In the end, it is a tactic that is supposed to make you win the game. Everyone, players and coaches are out there on the court to win the game and they will do everything in their power to achieve that goal
