Hi, Can you help me with this question please?
1.Twenty children playing in a park using the following strategy to decide who is it. They arrange themselves in a circle and a child is designated as number 1. Numbering themselves by going clockwise, each 7th person is out and cant be it. In which position (count clockwise from the child designated as #1) does the child who is it stand?
2. If every second person is called out (instead of every 7th), when there are initially 20 children, where should you stand if you want to be it?
3.If every second person is called out, when there are initially n children, where should you stand if you want to be it? Explore this situation by looking at several cases and identify a pattern.
i) Create an appropriate table or drawing to represent this exploration for n = 1 to n= 6. Clearly explain any patterns you see and represent your solution mathematically.
ii) Create a formula to predict where you should stand to be it for any n. (This might require you to extend your table beyond n=6 to find a solution.)
iii) Use technology to generate the first 40 terms of your pattern and confirm your results in part i).
