Arrivals and Queues An amusement park ride has two lines, one for regular customers, and a fast lane for customers who had paid a premium. 0 Fast lane customers are seated first 0 that are seated in a dedicated section 0 that section takes up 1X3 of the total seats for the ride 0 After the fast lane customers are seated, the regular customers are then allowed on the ride 0 Regular customers are allowed in fast lane seats if there are no fast lane customers to take them. The ride itself lasts 4 minutes and takes 2 minutes to offload the riders. The ride holds 30 riders. Now assume that groups can arrive together, instead of making the assumption that riders arrive one at a time. Fu rther assumptions: . a group arrives at once 0 any group can arrive at any time . the arrival rate is the same at all points in time Now think through the probability distribution for group size. What distribution would you use? Justify your answer. Note: there is no one right answer - your grade will depend on the quality of your justification
