Hi i am doing some research on my Literature review for my thesis, since the start of the year i have struggled with this question and often find myself repeating the same explanation without knowing exactly what i talking about.

The question is as follows: The role of the main payment instruments, particularly electronic payment instruments.

i understand the function of payment instruments but i do not understand their role in the banking sector, i understand that it would be functions such as EFTs but i dont understand the role besides the transferring of funds from one party to the next.

Please elaborate on this for me, thank you and i appreciate your time.
