Hi I need to solve all these accounts from numbers (1 to 8)(The necessary calculations and explanation to complete this section:
SPH4U Lab - Projectile Motion
Purpose: (first page after the title page unless you include a table of contents.
#1 - To confirm a 45o angle results in maximum horizontal displacement on a plane surface of hf - hi = 0.
While doing this we will obtain the average launch velocity vi from the equation dx= ( vi2/g )*sin 2
#2 - To demonstrate an understanding of projectile motion to the instructor by virtually launching a projectile through two rings using a launch angle of 30o and placing a ring at 50% of the maximum distance and 80% of the maximum distance. Use a projectile launched at 75 m/s.
Procedure & Observations & Calculations:
#3 - Now determine where you would place some hoops at 50% and 80% of the maximum distance so the golf ball would pass through them. Choose any angle you like between 20o and 50o - the angle you choose was _____ o . Also choose a velocity between 40 m/s to 100 m/s - the speed chosen was _____ m/s. Launch the ball from an initial height of zero (not elevated as show in my diagram) at 75 m/s. First you can estimate where it would occur using your cross hair tool and then you can calculate where to place the hoops using the equations of motion. Below in my example I choose 30o, 80 m/s and unfortunately launched from a height of 50 m ( I should have used 0 m).
Calculations needed to complete this section:
1. Maximum Distance dx = vi2/g*sin2
2. Vector components of the launch velocity. Vx= vi cos and viy=vi sin
3. 50% and 80% of max - as shown in the diagram above.
4. Time to each hoop using dhoop= vx.t
5. Height of each hoop using dhoop= viy * t+gt2/2
6. Also include a diagram similar to the one above for your calculations - cropped screen shot with hoops drawn in approximate where they belong.
7. Discussion Question: Which force was not considered in the lab experiment? What effect would it have on the trajectory of the projectile?
8. Conclusion: State the success of the hypothesis, what physics was learned from the experiment. Did you prove an optimal angle of 45o? Were you successful determining where to place the rings?
