1. Farley Mowat supported groups such as Greenpeace, which is known to flout international laws in its pursuit of environmental protection. Are such 'illegal' actions justified, given the supposed nobility of intent? Should activists who impede activities that are harmful to the environment (but are sanctioned by authorities) be jailed? Fined? Should they be listened to, or ignored? Consulted? Give your opinion and justifications in one or two paragraphs. (20 mks)

2. In Canada, calls for the government to fulfill its obligations to the Kyoto Protocol became increasingly vocal amongst environmental groups. However, in the years following, Canada backed away from this environmental initiative. What is the Kyoto Protocol? What do you think might have been the costs of continuing with the Protocol? What might have been the benefits? (25 mks)

3.The Copenhagen Accord
