Hi my name is Paul Smith. The company that I chose to intern with in preparation for a career in construction was Sisu Construction based out of Rancho Cucamonga, California. I will be in fact working for this company when I graduate in the fall of 2024. The title I will have is project engineer. What I learned while interning is that a project engineer is the hub of the team. They pass information between the field team and the design team, whether that's through RFIs, Submittals, meeting minutes, emails etc. you're the person going on site and talking through issues with the field and your superintendent and then documenting the issue and tracking down solutions from the various designers (basically what kicks off an RFI). I enjoyed going on site and being a part of the solution and being the person who was aware of everything onsite. I learned the details of all the different moving parts, like the subcontractors, "trades" the materials coming in and the systems that make a building which is critical for being able to manage them later. I also got to deal with some of the subcontractor cost tracking and change order issuances, and
