Design of a multi effect evaporation system A feed-forward triple effect evaporation system is used to concentrate a dilute solution of caustic soda. Feed: 6 kg/s of 14 wt.% caustic soda solution at 75 C Production: 47 wt.% caustic soda solution at 39 C Utility: Saturated steam at 150C Using heat and mass balance calculations, design the system by completing the following tasks. Task-2: (60-marks) Calculate (a) operating temperature in all three effects and (b) heat transfer area and utility (steam) required in each effect. Your calculations must satisfy the condition that the heat transfer area in each effect should be equal (with accepted variation of +10%). Consider overall heat transfer coefficient in cach effect in a range of 1200-3000 W/ mK. Overall heat transfer coefficient (U) in the first effect=3000 W/mK, U2 = 2000 W/ mK, and U;= 1250 W/ mK Also consider boiling point elevation and heat of solution in your calculations
