The article posted on November 6, 2020, on CTV News discusses the discrimination of employees. The Whole Foods location in Toronto has told employees that Remembrance Day poppies don't "align" with the company dress code. The article explains that Whole food honors men and women who serve but they prohibit any additions to the uniform. This situation has caused a lot of uproars since many people know that a poppy is a sign of respect. Canadian politicians describe the situation as "Shameful and wrong." Earlier this year, Whole Foods banned wearing "Black Lives Matter," face coverings on the job. It is wrong to ban support for something that someone wants to express. The Whole Foods situation has caught the attention of NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and even Premier Doug Ford. We are all still waiting for an apology and for them to reverse this decision.

This article has impacted the worker's freedom of speech (section 2b). The Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) also sets out the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers in Ontario workplaces. It's important for employees to feel comfortable in their environment since this will lead to a positive workspace for all.When researching the topic more the Ontario Human Rights Code also protects discrimination. I think not being able to wear a small sign of respect to show Canadians who served is very unfair. The Whole Foods grocery stores wouldn't be successful without the freedom these men and women have given us. This situation is going to harm Whole Foods since they have chosen to act unethically. This whole situation can fall under negligence in chapter 5 since they have fallen below the level of expected duties.
