Here we go! You are a patrol unit (4A34) in Colorado Springs when you're dispatched to 8595 N. Nevada Ave. 80909 for an assault between a male and female. The female called 911. The female/victim is later identified as (Sara Tia Jones)

Upon your arrival, a woman from across the street yells that she heard a woman screaming and saw a white male with dark hair (Who she described as approx. 5'10- 6'0, 200-210 lbs. wearing blue jeans and a blue Van Halen t-shirt) get into a newer black Camaro, back out, hit three metal garbage cans, and drive away. When you reach the front door, no one answers when you knock, but you soon discover that it's open. You hear someone crying and pleading for help. You notify dispatch that you are entering the residence with 4A44 (Officer James), who arrived as backup. You enter the home and find a female lying on the couch. She is not dressed and appears to have a wound over her right breast.

There is a knife on the floor next to the couch.

Part 1: Explain in detail what you do next and your responsibilities as the first responder. Think about the victim, the scene, the knife, the paramedics and firefighters coming in. Witnesses, etc.

Part 2: What questions will you ask the victim and witnesses? The witness is Clara Jenkins at 8596 N. Nevada Ave.

Part 3: What do you think the different items of evidence may be in the home that you need to collect. I want you to explain each one, how you collected it, and why you collected it.

Additional Information:

The assault occurred upstairs in the bedroom. The upstairs phone was pulled from the wall, and the stabbing happened on the bed. Blood is on the wall, the bed, and the carpet leading downstairs to the couch where you found the victim. Also, you may want to use your bedroom in your residence as the scene. Trust me on this one. It will help you on the next assignment. Imagine where the blood is and how it may look after an assault.
