Compare & Contrast
The Electronics vs the Oil and Gas companies in terms of high priority issues share 3 similar points which is energy and climate change, materials reduction & content, and lastly water use and impacts. There are leading issues that have to do with some form of waste, both types of companies are known to produce a byproduct contributing to climate change and material reduction is important for efficiency and reducing waste. Water use in electronics is large in order to clean chiplets and in the oil industry is used in drilling for fracking that has become popular for the years. The companies begin to differ in high priority after this as Electronics would be concerned over how the fragile products are handled as well as if the sourcing of components comes from reliable vendors and electronics can be fickle. While oil and gas companies would be concerned with employees who are under more strain in the oil and gas industry, there are safety concerns through what employees simply breathe to their labor environments. When it comes to low priority the only common aspect is transportation which is a low concern for oil and gas which is transported in bulk, while electronics are also transported in bulk as well at times certain high value products may be transported through more protective and/or expedited means, but for the most part a low priority. The Electronics companies differ in low priority as they feature employee involvement, as well as employee health and safety which are concerns like any other industry but not too high a level, especially when compared to gas. The oil and gas industry places stewardship of the product, the handling aspect as low as the products are moved in bulk and the item itself is not something that can necessarily be damaged. Lastly, the final low priority is concerning vendors which are a limited number of people in the oil and gas industry just as they are few sources of oil. The industry features control over a limited number of places to procure oil which leaves little room for negotiations placing it has low priority, although companies are trying to expand vendor selection when it comes to oil and gas, which is why fracking has become popular over the years.
