As an example, hiring and keeping good people is especially difficult in the dry-cleaning industry. The drycleaning industry is heavily dependent on hiring good managers, cleaner/spotters, and pressers. Most employees have no more than a high-school education (and many have less) and the market is very competitive with multiple help-wanted ads being posted regularly. The job normally pays minimum wage, and employees tend to change jobs frequently. It is hard to hire and keep employees because of the work environment. The work is hot and uncomfortable, the hours can be long, and the wage is usually similar to what the employee could make working somewhere else in an air-conditioned environment. There are no fringe benefits (little extras that come with the job) other than getting your clothes cleaned for free. As mentioned, employees quit on a regular basis.
