Ho to respond to the DQ answer? Do you agree?
My organization tends to lead out with Understanding Needs. They base their innovation on what the customer needs from a platform, and then doubles down on what the customer needs to fully buy into the platform as a whole. This is seen by first making a video conferencing platform that is cheaper than the platforms of the time, and then understanding the customer needs quality. They then focused on the video quality and ease of use. Now they are working to become a business suite, which is the piece about what the customer needs to fully buy into the product. Less frequently, I would say, is Harnessing Trends. My organization doesn't look at the trends of what our competitors are doing, but more what they are not doing. I use this information to my advantage as well, and push innovations in the Challenging Orthodoxies section, by creating initiatives that focus in on areas that our competitors are not, and then building value out of those areas. Example is giving away a service for free to increase long term revenue and retention, versus focussing on quarter to quarter sales and targets met.
