Their expenses are 25% of the regular selling price and as per their pricing strategy they must realize the profit of 20% of the regular selling price. Also according their pricing strategy, all merchandise is marked with a new regular selling price so that the store can advertise a discount of 40% while still maintaining its regular markup. However after Boxing Day, during the annual clearance sale, the new regular selling price of unsold items is further marked down giving an addition discount of 25%. Questions 1.
