Getting a cross-functional team to work together is a pain, all factions will need to have the feeling of being on the team and that they are being treated equally. Throughout the whole list that is provided they all should play a role in some part. With specification development engineering is going to have to take the majority role in this one and where they will meet the most push back should be the manufacturing part of the team. The supply management will play a role also but this in acquiring the need material for whatever widget going to be made or required. The main reason engineering will get push back from manufacturing. Market analysis every team is going to bring something to the table on this one there will be no minor role, engineering will have the ideas for the widget that is needed for the market with the design. Manufacturing will usually have the majority of a role finding equipment to make the engineered widget, the supply management is going to have the purse strings role. They will need to take the advisement of the engineering and manufacturing on requiring material for said product but if not economically viable they may need to bounce numbers off each team to where a viable option could be put forward to progress the widget to bring to market.

Productivity/cost improvements, the engineering team will paly a role in this but not as much as the manufacturing and supply will. Engineering will play a role in advising and ideas on how to improve. Usually when it comes to the manufacturer side, they don't like people messing with their flow or floor space unless they are aware and have signed onto be part of the improvements, hopefully without management forcing them to make the adjustments. Yet supply can make solid suggestions depending on the areas that area being requested. Make or buy analysis the main tow or major parties that will be a heavy consideration is the manufacturing and supply, engineering will be involved to assist both side to make sure they crunch the numbers correctly and come to the best possible option. You really don't want to have a person that is all gung-ho and want to d everything in house and make everything. Determination of inventory levels all three on the teams need to play a critical part on this one along with geographical or seasonal reasons. All three sections of the team have to work together and establish a solid base to set the inventory levels and make them stick to it. Now for specific reasons they will be able to adjust the inventory stock depending on factors that are affecting the market such as seasonal, catastrophic event, or the market as a whole looking at the inflation and deflation rates.
