How could I agree or disagree with the below post?
Most people in the United States own a computer. They play a significant part of our lives. They have developed into a vital part of our daily lives. I have even drove twenty minutes to work to realize I left my phone at home, I then turned around to drive back home to retrieve my phone with all of the features of a laptop computer. If I was in the business of selling computers, there would be several factors that I would consider important to my marketing strategy. The target market, competitive advantage and the level of product are very important to focus on.
The first and most important thing to address while marketing computers is to identify my target market. A target market is the group of customers that are most in need of the merchandises or services being offered. These customers make up a portion of the over-all market. It encompasses a particular set of buyer assets that marketers want to entice consumers' interest. According to the text, a company must first determine whom it will serve. The company should develop a market segmentation and selecting which segments it will go after. If I were marketing computers, my immediate target would be individuals in need of a good computer, companies who rely on computers to maintain their business operations, and students.
The next important component to successfully marketing my computers would be to develop a differentiation strategy to make my products seem unique and set my business apart from others. I would create some type of service to give my company a competitive advantage. The text defines competitive advantage as an advantage over competitors gained by offering greater customer value either by having lower prices or providing more benefits. I would attempt to gain a competitive advantage by offering the best quality product and even free on call service offering the highest quality computer possible and even offer free on call services and trouble shooting. The most important feature would be to include top notch processers, storage and memory components.
It's imperative to pay strict attention to the levels of product when developing my marketing strategy. Those levels include the core product, actual product and augmented product.
I would ensure the computer has all of the basic functions of a great operating system. My goal is to make sure the customer has exactly what they needed in a system; covering the core product needs. Secondly, I would cover the actual product by including extra features that would appeal to current and new customers. Lastly, I would attempt to cover the augmented product. I would offer extra services such as virus protection, personalized packaging, and follow up services.
In order to maintain profits, I would be cognizant of the product life cycle. My goal would be to make sure I had a relevant and much needed product. The first part of the cycle is presenting my computers to potential customers, determining what the demand is for my product in turn amplify advertising or decrease advertising based on the demand. This would be a continuous process as long as I am in the computer sales business. However, at the beginning stage I would consider production and introduction prior to advancing to the growth and maturity phase. Hopefully, I wouldn't reach the decline phase until making significant profit. To address the marketing mix changes I would give appropriate considerations to each phase of the product life cycle.
