The study mentioned above does not clearly state whether or not parental approval was given for the teens to watch the various types of horror movies. Horror movies are typically rated R which allow for nudity, violence, and vulgar language, which we still do not know if permission was granted by the parents for the teens be watching. Next the study does not indicate whether or not the teens were supervised during the viewings.

The content can be very disturbing and cause nightmares, difficulty sleeping, and sometimes rage or anger. Emotional distress can be brought on by the disturbing scenes they watched. Teens pick up on violence in the movies and tend to act it out in real life.

Personally cannot think of another way that this study could be designed to reduce the risks to the teens since they are conducting a study of the effects in teens. Even with the parents present, that could instill possible bad effects in the parents.
