$>>$ will add to the beginning of a file while $>$ will add to the end of the file

$>>$ will add to the end of a file while $>$ will add to the beginning of the file

$>>$ will overwrite an existing file while $>$ will append

$>>$ will append to an existing file while $>$ will overwrite
