How might the performance instrument differ for a position oriented toward routine duties versus a managerial position? The purpose of performance evaluation in my former department was to assure commitment with an ongoing improvement for the department. The phone interviewer had a set of daily duties to maintain while the phone supervisor had a set of duties to manage the interviewers to make sure the calls are being made. When the interviewers were short the phone supervisors had to make phone calls to keep up productivity of the department. The managerial and the interviewers had the same duties therefore the evaluation period was the same through-out the department. Some duties differed with the supervisors and the phone interviewers. The periodic evaluation and positive feedback help individuals to improve performance and gain personal effectiveness. An evaluation counseling session for employees will be held and performance appraisal forms completed, near the end of your initial six months probationary period and quarterly thereafter. All employees are to follow: Quality of work (Thoroughness, accuracy, neatness) Quantity of work (Productivity- number of survey completions) . Dependability (Reliable, following instructions, tendency to stay on job) Attendance, punctuality (Consistency in attendance of work hours) Conduct of work responsibilities in accordance with the University's policies and procedures Use of all types of University resources appropriately Practice of work-related policies of the University, a specific academic unit and department to assure fair and equitable treatment of all UAB employees Contribution to a culture of compliance by identifying, reviewing, and managing conflicts of interest and commitment appropriately Preservation and practice of academic freedom Contribution to a culture of trust among colleagues and students and interactions with administrators Appropriate management of information to assure rights to privacy and confidentiality for constituents of the University . Promotion of health and safety for all in the workplace and learning environments While it is the responsibility of UAB's Administration to maintain current and fair policies and procedures and to appropriately and frequently communicate current information about policies and procedures to appropriate UAB employees, it is the responsibility of faculty members to be aware of such policies and procedures and recognize that lack of compliance with specific policies and procedures can potentially lead to actions up to and including termination
