How to calculate MEB for wastewater and Hydrogen Production ?
Process Narrative (General) The process plant can be divided into 6 main sections. They are, in order of processing from feedstock (raw material/s) to product: 1) water treatment, 2) hydrogen production, 3) biomass combustion, 4) gas treatment and compression, 5) methanol synthesis, and 6) methanol purification. Water treatment: Raw winery wastewater is pumped from a holding tank through separation unit(s) to purify the water to a quality suitable for electrolysis. Treated water then enters a reactor where it is dosed with chemicals. Hydrogen production: The treated and dosed water is fed to an alkaline electrolyser to produce hydrogen. Biomass combustion: Simultaneously, biomass is fed to a combustion system with the oxygen produced from the electrolyser to produce a gas stream containing carbon dioxide and solid ash. Gas treatment and compression: The gas is cooled, then undergoes compression and purification steps. The purified gas is stored to be used as methanol synthesis feedstock. Methanol synthesis: The purified gas, hydrogen and recycled overhead gases, are fed to a methanol synthesis reactor where they are reacted at high temperatures and pressures to produce methanol and water. Methanol purification: The methanol then undergoes a multi-stage purification process where water is separated and discharged, overhead gases are recycled, and Grade AA methanol is produced at 200 tonnes per day.
