How to change Lantern Ring?

a$.$ Lock out the pump and drain line and remove old packing, identify sequence, check condition of lantern ring, cut new packing, install new packing, adjust gland and check leakage 

 

b$.$ Check condition of lantern ring, cut new packing, install new packing, adjust gland and check leakage

c$.$ Cut new packing, install new packing, adjust gland and check leakage

d$.$ Remove old packing, cut new packing, install new packing, adjust gland and check leakage.
