When it comes to the criminal justice system and its purpose in this world, is that it is here to help protect both the public and the criminals. The protection the system brings to the public is to protect them from any threats or violence from said criminals. The system also protects the criminals by making sure they are sentenced to the right and fair amount of punishment for the crime they committed. With this we are introduced to Criminal Procedure which are the "rules and guidelines for processing suspects and the accused through the justice system" (Introduction to Criminal Procedure). This topic we introduced shows us four different places it comes from, those places are natural rights, the U.S. Constitution, court decisions, and statutory law. In my opinion, the criminal justice system is here to protect the public against said criminals but to make sure the criminals get their fair trial. I believe restorative justice focuses on restoring those who were ever victims of a horrible crime and those who are affected come together to be a community together. This is such a great idea because when someone goes through a hard time, they always think that they are alone and that no one knows what they are going through. With restorative justice, those who think that can see they are not alone and some people have been affected as well. Lastly, we are introduced to criminal rights from the Sixth Amendment which also comes along with a fair trial for the defendant and a right to a lawyer, etc. These rights are for the criminal to know what they can know with their case such as what they are being charged for and what the outcome can turn out as. All three of these topics are connected in harmony in their ways but the focus mainly for all three is to help those in whatever situation they end up in. Proverbs 21:15 says, "When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers."
