How to respond properly to the discussion below

Call systems are a form of communication that began long ago, but it differs from human language. Call systems was a communication system used by other animals such as apes and monkeys. This system of commutation was not made up of words, but instead, sounds and gestures. According to Kottack "These vocal systems consist of a limited number of soundscallsthat are produced only when particular environmental stimuli are encountered. Such calls may be varied in intensity and duration, but they are much less flexible than language because they are automatic and can't be combined. At some point in human evolution, however, our ancestors began to combine calls and to understand the combinations" (Kottack, 2022). After studying the communication between apes and monkeys, it was discovered that they do not have the vocal tracts to be able to form words like humans do. Although some were able to eventually learn American Sign Language, they never learned to speak. Another thing the apes struggled with was linguistic displacement. From our textbook we learn that "displacement is our ability to talk about things that are not present (Kottack, 2022). Humans have the memory to recall or talk about things that aren't present at the time.

One way I have used linguistic displacement in my own life is when I recently attended a conference for work. A few days after, I was asked to highlight one of the presentations. The event was days ago, and the speaker was no longer present, but I could recall the event and talk about what I saw and learned.

Another time I can recall that linguistic displacement was taking my nieces to Chucky Cheese when they were 5 and 7. A few weeks went by and the next time I saw them my youngest niece asked me if I remember when she won all those tickets and began to talk about every thing that happened that day. Even though we were not near Chucky Cheese, she used displacement to recall.
