How to respond to the decision answer below
In the past probably the two people that took different approaches to making leadership decisions based on a situation, one would rely on their own expertise, experience, and knowledge and the other would rely on delegation, group knowledge, and expertise of others. For the first one, they made great appraisals during situations that fell within their skillset, and generally you could follow their decision and come out on top of the situation, but when the situation at hand was outside of their normal skillset, they still felt like they needed to be the only voice in the decision making process. Because of this, they sometime would make themselves look very poor to their subordinates and the organization because the decision was way off the mark. The second leader would always bring in many different people into the process, and when you had time to delegate, and meet about the situation, an outcome that was highly beneficial was reached. However, if there was a time crunch on the situation this leader would still attempt to bring in multiple resources and end up adding too much stress to those around them, and end up missing deadlines. I feel like me as a leader to appraise a situation, I have learned from both of these leaders and I approach every situation with questions in mind. I need to know the deadline, the subject, the stressors, and as much information as I can obtain. From there, I can determine if I need to make the decision quickly and alone, or if I need to add resources to aid in the decision process.
