How to write a c program that redirects stdin or stdout based on user input? I know I need to use fork() to create a child process and dup2() to change the file descriptors.

If user types /bin/cat textfile > outfile then the contents of textfile should be written to outfile instead of stdout (redirect from stdout/the screen to outfile).

If user types /bin/cat < textfile then stdin is redirected to the textfile and contents are printed to screen.

Somehow I need to parse the user input to find the > or < characters to redirect correctly.
