Changes are always going on in a company of any size. Many businesses find change to be a tough situation, but when a company has a plan for the changes it can help to improve the transition. This begins with upper management, and it trickles all the way down to the newest of

employees. It is important that in these situations that there is someone in-house that can do essential jobs. Beth Combs was asked how recent changes have affected the average employee, and she provided this answer: Due to the current shortage of available hiring candidates, the average employee has been required to become more versatile in the jobs they are required to do, both primary and as a contingent to cover for absences, etc. This can be stressful at times, but our institution promotes the team concept well. All departments work well together to offset the shortage of employees that we sometimes encounter (Executive B, February 10, 2023). This has become a staple for many businesses, especially with COVID. Employees that have the knowledge and willingness to work multiple positions are increasingly valuable to companies. The versatility that comes along with these employees allows them to be effective in multiple ways for the company. Many organizations are branching out and attempting new endeavors. This leads to new hires and potential restructures for the businesses that need to allocate resources elsewhere.

Factors that have led to changes in the organization differ from organization to organization. There are some factors that do have a common theme. For example, money. It is the single resource that keeps the business afloat. Without money, there is no business, and it may sound simple and that is because it is. Changes are made to certain organizations for the sole purpose of money, whether it be because it is making too little or too much. Mark Bolinger was asked about how his company implements changes and this is what he had to say: Our institution always looks within for the best candidate for the available position before hiring from outside. Experience, progression since inception at our institution, and professionalism are the primary factors that are considered when making the decision to promote. However, when the appropriate candidate is not available, we hire from outside. And due to the current hiring environment, this sometimes requires our employees to be flexible in their job responsibilities (Executive A, February 8, 2023). This is an example of an organization implementing changes to improve the quality of the organization.
