How would you respond to these discussions:
1. Social media has dramatically changed the way individuals interact with businesses. As a customer, I have found that using different social sites has provided me with more opportunities to engage with businesses and brands. The engagement has been made more immediate and direct. In addition, I have received a voice through social media where I can share my experiences with a particular company with a wider audience, give feedback on the products and services a company offers, and offer any opinions I might have. The rise of social media has changed customer service altogether (Urrutia, 2021). It has ensured that customers have a direct line with companies where their concerns, questions, and complaints can be addressed easily and immediately. Such communication has improved customer service in every business. Companies are keen to maintain a positive image and are therefore quick to address any concerns their customers may have in order to ensure they are fully satisfied with the services and products.
2. Another way social media has changed how I interact with business is it helps me stay up to date on companies I like to purchase products from. For example, I am a big outdoorsman. I enjoy fishing and hunting. Many of the local outdoorsman stores near me have Instagram pages or Facebook pages. By staying up to date on what is happening at these stores, I am able to find out about different clearance events and sales. In addition, I am able to communicate with people who own these different businesses about things. I am able to get help with different questions that I have because of social media. I think that it has had positive effects for me. However, social media has changed how people interact with businesses because it allows them to complain about different businesses very easily. All it takes is a comment on a social media page.
3. The scenario I chose is when the president of the business club needs to establish a schedule and program for the upcoming year.
In this situation, the president of a business club is responsible for establishing a schedule and program for the upcoming year. The power sources available to the president in such a scenario include their power, positional power as the president of the business club, expert power, and referent power. The president's power may come from their knowledge, skills, and competence in leading and managing a business club. As the president of the business club, they also have positional power or the authority to make decisions and implement actions. Expert power is the president's ability to influence others based on their expertise and knowledge of the industry. On the other hand, referent power comes from the respect and admiration that the president commands from the business club members.
The approach that would be most ethical in this scenario would be to involve all members of the business club in the decision-making process. The president should consult and gather input from the members to understand their needs, interests, and opinions. This approach aligns with the ethical principles of beneficence, respect for persons, and justice. By involving all members, the president can ensure that the schedule and program reflect the interests of the majority and promote the well-being of all members.
