The U.S legal system impacts physicians behavior with regard to professional liability insurance coverage, patient care and health care costs as stated in this week lesson more physicians are practicing defensive medicine. In defensive medicine, physicians are running various and multiple tests that are sometimes unnecessary to avoid malpractice suits. Defensive medicine increases health care costs and wastes a lot of time running unnecessary tests. However, runing more tests rule out and eliminate possible diagnoses and conditions and provide more objective data for a defense if the physician is involved in a legal case. (Cutspec, 2016)
