Humane endpoint criteria define the conditions under which:

Animals must be moved to larger cages.

The IACUC must be notified of the need for more animals to achieve statistical significance.

Animal forms must be rewritten to solicit continued IACUC approval.

Intervention must occur to remove an animal from a study, sometimes by euthanizing the animal.
