Week 1 Assignment, Part 2 On the Tesla Financials tab, perform the following tasks. Cells in which you must input something are blue (please do not change the background color of these cells). Each item and sub-item is worth 2 points, for a total of 24 points available. 1. Format the dates on the Income Statement so that they appear bold and right-aligned. 2.In cell K7, choose the balance sheet item from the drop-down list that corresponds to the concept of retained earnings in the course material. 3. Calculate the taxes in each projection year in the income statement using a formula with an absolute column reference to the tax rate in cell K4. 4. Calcualte the net loss/income for each projection year in the income statement. 5. Copy and paste (special) the historical net loss/income values only from cells B33:F33 to cells B36:F36. 6. In cell F38, calculate the future value of the 2015 net loss/income as of 2019, using the cost of capital (WACC) given in cell K5. You may use either a formula or a built-in Excel function. (Hint: this is a basic future value of a lump sum problem in which you can think of the year 2015 as Time 0 on your timeline and 2019 as Time 4). 7. In the Total Assets row, calculate Tesla's total assets for each projection year. Hint: be careful not to double-count accounts! 8. In the Total Current Assets row, use a built-in Excel function to add together all the current assets for each year. 9. Create a line chart for the Net Loss/Income from years 2015 through 2019. a. Title the chart Tesla Net Income 2015-2019. (Do not include the quotation marks.) b. Edit the horizontal axis labels so that they list the dates. c. Add the vertical axis title USD in Millions. (Do not include the quotation marks.) 31 DEC '15 4,046 3,741 3,741 Projected 31 DEC '20F 29,494 24,985 24,985 23,942 1,043 305 4,508 3,123 -2,823 -2,823 Tesla Inc TSLA FactSet Fundamentals INCOME STATEMENT Total revenues Total automotive revenue Automotive Automotive excluding automotive leasing Automotive leasing Services and other Energy generation and storage Services and other excluding energy generation and other Total cost of revenues ende Total automotive cost of revenues Automotive Automotive excluding automotive leasing Automotive leasing Services and other Energy generation and storage Services and other excluding energy generation and storage Gross profit Total operating expenses Research and development Selling, general and administrative Restructuring and other Loss from operations Interest income Interest expense Other income / expense, net Loss / income before income taxes Provision for income taxes Net loss / Income All figures in millions of U.S. Dollar except per share items. 31 DEC '16 7,000 6,351 6,351 5,589 762 649 181 468 -5,401 4,750 4,750 -4,268 482 -651 -178 -472 1,599 -2,267 -834 -1,432 31 DEC 17 11,759 9,641 9,641 8,535 1,107 2,117 1,116 1,001 -9,536 -7,433 -7,433 -6,724 -708 -2,104 -875 -1.229 2.222 3,855 -1,378 -2,477 31 DEC '18 21,461 18,515 18,515 17.632 883 2,946 1,555 1,391 -17,419 -14,174 -14,174 -13,686 -488 3,245 -1,365 -1,880 4,042 -4,430 -1,460 -2,834 -135 388 25 -663 22 -1,005 -58 -1,063 31 DEC 19 24,578 20,821 20,821 19,952 869 3,757 1,531 2,226 -20,509 -16,398 -16,398 -15,939 -459 4,111 -1,341 -2,770 4,069 4,138 -1,343 -2,646 -149 -299 Projected 31 DEC 21F 35,392 29,982 29,982 28,731 1.251 5,410 2,205 3,205 -29,533 -23,613 -23,613 -22,952 -661 -5,920 -1,931 -3,989 5,859 -5,959 -1,934 -3,810 -215 -99 63 -986 65 -958 -163 -1,120 1,837 2,671 -24,611 -19,678 -19,678 -19,127 -551 4,933 -1,609 -3,324 4,883 4,966 -1,612 -3,175 -179 -83 - dengagement 924 -1,640 -718 -922 -69 - -717 2 -119 -42 -876 -13 -822 -667 9 -199 111 -746 -27 -773 -1.632 20 471 -125 -2,209 32 -2.241 44 -685 45 -665 -1101 -775 -798 -136 -934 -889 Copy of net loss/income -889 -773 -2.241 -1,063 -775 Future value in 2019 of 2015's net loss $1,566.13 31 DEC '15 8,092 2,792 1,197 31 DEC '16 22,664 6,260 3,393 31 DEC '17 28,655 6,571 3,368 31 DEC '18 29,740 8,306 3,686 31 DEC 19 34,309 12,103 6,268 Projected 31 DEC '20F 16,932 14,524 7,522 Projected 31 DEC '21F 20,318 17,428 9,026 169 1,278 148 515 2,264 424 949 3,113 558 23 155 Tesla Inc TSLA FactSet Fundamentals BALANCE SHEET Total assets Total current assets Cash and cash equivalents Short-term marketable securities Accounts receivable Inventory Prepaid expenses and other current assets Restricted cash and marketable securities Prepaid expenses and other current assets Operating lease vehicles, net Solar energy systems, leased and to be leased, net Property, plant and equipment, net Operating lease right-of-use assets Intangible assets, net Intangible assets, net excluding goodwill Goodwill Other non-current assets MyPower customer notes receivable, net of current portion Restricted cash Other assets, net 499 2,067 300 106 194 3,134 5,920 5,983 125 268 1,791 4,117 6,347 10,028 193 366 2,090 6,271 11,330 1,324 3,552 959 246 713 2,447 6,138 10,396 1,218 537 339 198 1,470 393 269 808 1,589 4,262 1,151 295 856 2,936 7,366 12,475 1461.6 644 407 238 1,764 472 3,403 1,907 5,115 1,381 354 1,027 3,524 8,839 14,970 1,754 773 488 285 2,117 566 387 1,164 376 422 362 60 1,171 457 106 991 351 282 68 1,391 422 398 572 506 268 217 32 75 442 323 970 273
