I am a people person, and I love people. I love to hear their stories and to learn about them. I like to hear about their families, pets, talk about the weather. I enjoy making them feel valued and heard. I have the pleasure of serving on a couple of medical boards that specialize in cancer. Many of the people that I interact with on a regular basis are hurting and broken in many ways, but it other ways they are much stronger than one could ever imagine. I can often empathize with them on a deeper level because I have often been through similar circumstance often times. I have learned that we are often more open and vulnerable once we have been through something and have come out of it on the other side. these types of trials cause us to have a different perspective about life, and about how we should really learn to value every second of it$.$

The counsels and boards that I serve on are made up of very diverse individuals from across the world, and I really enjoy serving with them. Although we do have in person meetings, we often get together on social media or Zoom. I have realized that others will often listen to me with empathy $($having a willing and attentive ear$)$ because they are intrigued by my story. They know that my faith has brought me through some really hard times, so the listener will often listen closely to my story because it is relatable and I make myself vulnerable.
