I am an internationally educated nurse, and I recently secured a nursing position in one of the hospitals here in Toronto. Understanding the Employment Standards Act and our rights and responsibilities as employees and as employers is essentially important and beneficial for me and for everybody. ESA highlights the importance of our rights so that everybody is treated fairly at work because it discusses what every employee needs to know, like the minimum wage, overtime pay, holiday time, and leaves of absence.
