I am doing a project for Statistics in Psychology-My paper says this,

The sample size of my data is n=40, divided into two groups (Group A and Group B) of 20 participants. The size of the sample informs the analysis by providing the number of participants evaluated. This sample size is relatively small therefore there may be an increase in the margin of error as well as reporting the data could be skewed and rendered null because it isn't an accurate representation of the population. The statistical procedure used to answer the research question would be a two-sample t-test, which would be the most appropriate test to determine the efficacy of CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) compared to REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) in a group of adolescents at an inpatient clinic. The two-sample t-test is the most appropriate because the data set indicates that there are two groups and the research question is attempting to find out whether the outcome or performance of the groups is different when using a less challenging form of CBT in comparison to REBT which is a more confrontational type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

So I have to use a two sample t-test and then my new assignment is: (in bold I have written what I believe is the correct way to write the null and alternative hypothesis but I am unsure whether that is correct or not....

Q: Researchers call position (a) null hypothesis (symbolized H0). Researchers call position (b) alternative hypothesis (symbolized Ha). A researcher customizes the hypotheses to a study, using symbols and information about the specific study.

  1. Indicate your research hypotheses (null and alternative), incorporating the appropriate symbols. [To answer this question, you need, in part, to look at the research scenario.]

My answer is A.H0: =

B.HA:

And I am not sure whether I am doing this correctly or not???

Then the 2nd question is: State what the hypotheses mean. [Some overlap may exist with your answer to # 1. These are related rather than mutually exclusive questions.]
