I am hoping for some assistance on this question. I have only one more attempt and I think the top option that says "The substitution causes the collagen triple helix to be thicker at the point of the substitution." is the most logical answer and I cant find anything about treating (OI) with Vitamin C.
I am hoping someone can explain why so I can understand better.
Thanks for the help.
Incorrect Question 2 0/2 pts Osteogenesis imperfecta (Ol), sometimes called brittle-bone syndrome, is an inherited human condition caused by alterations in the sequence of collagen. There are several forms of the syndrome. In one form, a single Gly in the collagen sequence is substituted by an Ala. This substitution interferes with the structure of collagen, causing weakened tendons and easily broken bones. Given what you know about the structure of the collagen triple helix, what can you say about the effect of substituting a Gly with an Ala in the sequence of collagen? The substitution causes the collagen triple helix to be thicker at the point of the substitution. The substitution changes the helical handedness of the triple helix. The effect of the substitution can be overcome by increased dietary intake of vitamin C
