I am stuck on how to go about answering this. I believe my hypothesis is correct, but not sure.
I hate Green Day's song American Idiot. Maybe that comes from my dating a smart Canadian lady during my late twenty's and she was a little stuck up on how well read Canadians are compared to Americans. To prove her wrong, I referred to a Gallup Poll reported that 86% of 1094 randomly sampled Canadians read at least one book in the past year, compared to 82% of 1025 randomly sampled Americans. Was I able, from at least a statistical point of view, to disprove her claim of a higher reading rate in Canada? (This is probably why that relationship did not endure but I digress.)
Part 1: Test an appropriate hypothesis and state conclusions.
p1=86% and p2=82%
H0: p1=p2
H1: p1 Part 2: Find a 98% confidence interval for the difference in the proportion of Americans and Canadians who read at least one book in the last year. Interpret the interval.
