I am to consider the population of inmates in regional forensic treatment centres, more specifically focused on women as a special population of offenders discussing the issue of mental illness, self-injury, and corrections for example. I will have to argue that the women in these centres should be considered inmates and not patients. I have to specifically focus on why they should still be considered inmates. I should consider what the response and treatment implications are for seeing the population as inmates, but i needed some help on some points of how i can show my persuasive argument towards this.

Also, I would want to think about the disadvantagesthat women considered or labelled as "patients" receive and compare that with women considered or labelled as "inmates" receive or are at advantage. For example, referring to the effectiveness of federal protections, harm reduction model, and security reclassifications scale for women and arguing how these factors are essential in considering these women as inmates. Also, referring to the treatment(s) that women considered "inmates" receive that women considered "patients" don't receive and why is this essential.

I have to also consider the implications of this for those that work in the treatment centres, such as correctional and mental health staff. How, for example, would their health and/or safety be increased by seeing the group as inmates, compared to patients?
