I am working on my Payroll Project for Payroll Accounting. I am on my last payroll for the quarter. I am trying to figure out the FICA-OASDI and I am off by $808.38. I know that this is not right.
Scenario:
In this pay, Mr. O'Neill, President, is paid $75,000 for his annual bonus. For withholding purposes, the bonus is considered a supplement payment and is added to his gross pay, and the aggregated amount is taxed. In this pay, O'Neill has reached the OASDI ceiling. To calculate O'Neill's OASDI tax, multiply OASDI ceiling of $118,500 by 6.2% and then subtract the year-to-date OASDI taxes withheld up to this pay.
Mr. O'Neill's OASDI up-to-this-date is: $2,646.92+143.08+143.08+143.08+143.08+143.08=$3,362.32
I am including a table with all employees and the information to help you.
Name | Hrs | Rate | Hrs | Rate | Gross Pay | OASDI |
Bonno | 80 | 17.60 | 12 | 35.20 | 1830.40 | 113.48 |
Ferguson | 80 | 2250.00 | 139.50
Ford | 80 | 16.00 | 1280.00 | 79.36
Mann | 80 | 1350.00 | 83.70 | |||
O'Neill | 80 | 2307.69(Salary) | 77,307.69 | 3984.70
Ryan | 80 | 18.00 | 7 | 36.00 | 1692.00 | 24.53 |
Sokowski | 80 | 2050.00 | 127.10
Student | 71 | 14.00 | 994.00 | 61.63
Woods | 80 | 15.00 | 1200 | 74.40
Young | 80 | 15.75 | 1260 | 78.12
Totals | 91,214.09 | 4846.89 |
So, when I take the gross wages and multiply by 6.2%, I come up with a different number. 91,214.09*6.2%=5,655.27.
Can someone please help me figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
