I can think of many situations where the use of ANOVA testing would be appropriate. One example would be a study to determine if drivers of any specific type of vehicle tend to have more accidents. This type of study would analyze the number of accidents by drivers of sedans, SUV's, vans, and sports cars. The mean number of accidents for each type of vehicle would then be compared. What would the null and alternative hypotheses look like for this study?
