Please see the formatting instructions at the end of this document for more details. Your group will complete a facility and process design analysis of a local company, store, or retail outlet. Please do not select Walmart, Superstores, or other large, multi-market stores. The requirements are: 1) Find a local company to analyze - all companies must be unique, with no duplicates! 2) Create a scale floor plan of the organization's entire facility 3) Determine the organization's primary mission, values and processes, and type(s) of technology used 4) Create a service blueprint for the primary service of the organization

P a g e 2 | 4 5) In addition to the facilities layout (machines), you must perform an analysis on one other area of operations management from below: i. Methods - create diagrams showing the process and waiting, and analyze the productivity ii. Materials - describe and analyze quality control, supply chain, and inventory management (JIT and EOQ) iii. People - describe and analyze the design of work, quality control, and scheduling iv. Machines - facilities layout (must analyze) For each area of operations, introduce the topic and present the analyses (use a table or lists if this helps to make the information clearer). State at least two pros and two cons to the operational areas under consideration. Then, write a brief paragraph after each area summarizing the highlights of that analysis that you think are most relevant to your research. You will need more information about this specific industry or environmental factors, so you will have to research. You will need at least five sources; Wikipedia and the Dictionary do not count as sources. 6) For your organization's operations (as a whole), indicate two external forces that factor into their problem(s) and provide at least two possible solutions. 7) Recommend one TQM solution to the organization, including specific steps to completion. (No Marketing, HR, or non-operations solutions!). 8) Complete Part B, which includes a permission form, time log, and peer assessment for each team member. See Moodle for templates.
