I deposit $200 into my savings account monthly if I were to use this graph to calculate and compare the difference between the two savings account this is how I would do it. I have a goal of saving for my sons college tuition and 10 years is the ideal target point but because the graph is more visually appealing at the 5 year mark I will use these plots to demonstrate. The Growth Factor of the Principle for R1 is 60.614 and for R2 it is 67.045, so we will take these numbers and multiply them by the amount that I deposit monthly. For the first account R1: 60.614 *200 = 12,122.80 For the second account R2: 67.045 *200 = 13,409.00 Now we will take our two balances and subtract 13,409.00 - 12,122.80 = 1,286.20 So if I was to switch savings accounts now and deposit the same amount I could earn a total of $1,286.20. This is an eye opening discovery, I have always heard of these percentage rates but never paid much attention to how they can actually affect your total balance in the long run. I will be having a discussion with my wife later tonight
