I enjoyed reading your input on this week's topic. I think it's critical for a business to determine what tests are necessary versus what can be trained (reasonably) on the job. What purpose does a company have to only test for one skill of a job when there are others that are applicable? If I'm being interviewed for a construction job, I could just as easily lie about my skills with tools as I can about my skills to read a tape measure. If both skills are critical to the job, why would the company only test me for one? Is it reasonable for a company to take the time and energy to test all critical skills prior to employment? SHRM.org published in 2022 that the average cost per hire was roughly $4,700. If the goal of testing applicants is to reduce the time and money it takes to hire the right person, I feel that at some point this might be counterproductive. Or would you say it's worth it
