I have an assignment where I will attached you the 2 articles below and can you please go through and answer the following question:
1. According to Lumen Learning innovation is "the development of customer value through solutions that meet new, undefined, or existing market needs in unique ways." (Adapting and Innovating, N.D.) Employees at Smithfield need to understand that innovation is important to them because at its core innovation is empowering to the employees themselves. This empowerment results in greater loyalty and belonging within the company. (Adapting and Innovating, N.D.) This can also benefit the employee by granting them some autonomy to make things better within the company for their own job performance or develop something new for the market to help the company grow. Obstacles to the Acceptance of Change One obstacle is lack of transparency. If staff do not understand the reason for the change, they will likely be resistant to it (Managing Change for Employees, n.d.) In order to avoid this barrier, clear and intentional communication is essential. If staff understand the change, and understand their part in it, they will be more likely to accept it (Managing Change for Employees, n.d). The second barrier is effective education and training. If employees are not prepared to take on the additional workload or changes to any standard procedures, they will not be able to easily adapt (Managing Change for Employees, n.d). Lack of training could stall or even halt progress. The third barrier that could have a negative impact on the success of the new product line is persistent monitoring of the progress of the change. In order to ensure success, it will be important to monitor not only the change itself, but how the change is affecting employees and the overall organization (Managing Change for Employees, n.d).
